Marcus Rashford has been strongly linked as a possible winter replacement for FC Barcelona. However, Chelsea is also willing to send one of their forwards to the Catalan club
FC Barcelona seems to be on the right track for the possible arrival of Marcus Rashford in the winter market. The Manchester United 'star' will wait until the last minute for a Catalan proposal, which depends on at least a couple of departures from the squad, including a sale that allows them to raise funds to negotiate with the 'red devils'. However, the English international is not the only alternative available for Barça regarding left-wingers in January.
According to 'El Nacional', Chelsea does not rule out offering the Catalans Christopher Nkunku, one of the forwards who has had the least prominence this season under Enzo Maresca's orders. The '18' has only been a starter in 3 of the 21 Premier League matches played so far. In fact, he remained on the bench against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth. In the cups, however, he has been a regular for the Italian coach, improving his record to 13 goals in 28 appearances (1,180').
For Barça, it would initially be easier to fit Nkunku's salary than Rashford's within their wage margin. Although the club, in either case, would only cover a percentage of the player's salary, the earnings of the United '10' practically double those of the Chelsea forward. Marcus earns 20 'kilos' net per year, while the French attacker makes around 12M€ per season.
Bayern negotiates a swap for Christopher Nkunku
Regarding Chelsea's insistence on offloading the French international, 'The Athletic' claims that the 'blues', while not ruling out a six-month loan, prioritize a permanent transfer for the 27-year-old player. In this sense, Bayern Munich would be the most interested in signing Christopher Nkunku, beyond the high financial aspirations of those at Stamford Bridge.
According to the English newspaper, the Bavarians intend to offer a swap that includes the also French forward Mathys Tel, who is not considered by coach Vincent Kompany. Chelsea has no intention of letting Nkunku go for less than 70 million euros, as his transfer was closed at 60 'kilos' in the summer of 2023. So far, the player from Lagny-sur-Marne has scored 16 goals and provided 4 assists in 42 matches since his arrival in England.
