The Sporting CP striker has reportedly closed the door on other proposals to join the 'Gunner' sports project

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The name of Viktor Gyökeres seems to be moving further and further away from FC Barcelona. The 26-year-old Swedish 'killer', who has been linked on several occasions with the Azulgrana club as a possible reinforcement for the '9' position, would be very close to joining one of the greats of the Premier League: Arsenal.

The 'Gunner' team, which has shown this season the lack of a pure and reference centre forward, would have taken a step forward to close the signing of the Sporting CP attacker. According to various English media, everything points to Gyökeres wearing the Arsenal shirt from next summer.

Arsenal offers Gyökeres a star salary

It is reported from England that the Swedish striker has stopped listening to other proposals and that Arsenal has decided to go 'all-in' for his incorporation. The London club has reportedly offered him an annual salary of 7 million pounds (€8.5 million), an amount that would place him among the highest paid players in the 'Gunner' payroll, at the level of figures such as Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Martin Ødegaard, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.

What is not yet entirely clear is the final price of the transfer. Although his release clause is 100 million euros, it is speculated that the 'Leões' and Gyökeres would have agreed on a departure for an amount close to 70-75 million euros. The '9' has a current contract with the Portuguese team until 2028, which gives the Lisbon team room to manoeuvre to negotiate.

FC Barcelona would lose an attractive option to reinforce the '9' area

If this operation materialises, Barcelona would be left without one of the most interesting options to reinforce the attack. However, it had already been hinted from the Barcelona club that reinforcing the '9' position was not contemplated in this summer market. With Lewandowski as an undisputed starter and Ferran Torres as a revulsive, Deco hinted that offensive reinforcements could come from the wings, thus ruling out incorporations for the centre of the attack.

Although Viktor Gyökeres was not an absolute priority for the Culé team, he was considered a valuable alternative for the future. His signing for Arsenal will force the club from the Ciudad Condal to continue looking for options for future incorporation windows, in case they finally decide to reinforce the attack.
