Iñaki Peña plays his future in the Gamper: Will he convince Fàbregas' Como?

Iñaki Peña was not taken into account on the Asian tour and must leave in this summer market. Cesc Fàbregas' Como is interested in signing him, but nothing is closed yet.
Iñaki Peña has one year left on his contract with Barça. However, with the arrival of Joan García and the continuity of Wojciech Szczesny and Marc-André ter Stegen, the Alicante native has considered taking a new direction. Como, this Sunday's rival in the Joam Gamper trophy, has emerged as a future destination for the goalkeeper.
In the last year, Peña was guarding the Azulgrana goal in 23 matches, due to the injury of Ter Stegen, being the one with the highest participation in his career. However, he was a substitute in the second half of 24/25 and did not see minutes in the preseason tour, being relegated by Hansi Flick, a sign that he is not counting on him for 25/26.
Even so, with a view to the Gamper, it is likely that the German will give him some minutes in the second half to show himself to what could be his next team. The club is advancing in its 'operation exit' and prioritizes finalizing the farewell of all its discards as soon as possible.
Como would offer Iñaki Peña a contract until June 2028
It is not the first time that Cesc Fàbregas has been interested in a player from FC Barcelona. The former Barcelona player already has Alex Valle and Sergi Roberto in his team, and now he has been following Iñaki Peña.
“The players who we believe can enter the dynamics of what we do are welcome”, declared Fàbregas in the press conference prior to the ‘Festa del Gamper Estrella Damm’ after being asked about the possible arrival of Peña to his team.
In that sense, Fàbregas wants Peña to be his reference goalkeeper, which is why Como would offer him a contract until June 2028. His training and experience with Barça, together with the age factor (26 years old), are factors that the native of Arenys de Mar took into account so that he is part of his project.

Despite this, the Azulgrana club only has the goalkeeper born in Alicante registered in the first team for LaLiga EA Sports. In case of not being able to make the registration of Joan García and/or Szczesny, Iñaki would be the only goalkeeper available to play against Mallorca on August 16.
Although Peña is registered as a goalkeeper for the Azulgrana club, the club will accelerate the process of registering its goalkeepers in order to agree to the termination of his contract. The same will happen with Oriol Romeu, who did not even travel to Asia with the team.
If the '13' leaves for Italian football, it would be his second experience abroad; he was already with Galatarasay in Turkey, where he saved 8 games of the 21/22 season.
