Espanyol's CEO, Mao Ye Wu, spoke about the imminent transfer of Joan García to Barça. The 'periquita' board refers to the full payment of the clause to let the Catalan goalkeeper go

Espanyol has ratified its position regarding the future of Joan García. At the XXXIII Meeting of Espanyol Fan Clubs, held in La Roca del Vallès, the CEO of the 'blanquiazul' team, Mao Ye Wu, cleared up any doubts about the course of negotiations with FC Barcelona, which already has a verbal agreement with the 24-year-old goalkeeper.

"The player is currently with Espanyol, he has his clause, updated to the CPI. He is within his rights to choose his professional career, we must understand the personal decision of each one, but the contract is the contract and we have to respect what is signed", began by saying the 'periquito' general manager.

In that sense, he added: "We have no intention of negotiating the clause. Not with Barça nor with anyone". In addition, the businessman assured that the club, although working on several market operations, has not had more contacts with García since the 'blanquiazul' squad went on vacation a couple of weeks ago.

This is how the negotiations between Barça and Espanyol for Joan García are going

Similarly, the CEO of Espanyol explained that, until now, the only thing that has been generated is "noise" regarding the possible transfer of the 24-year-old goalkeeper. The club does not want to lose him, but respects his decision to choose where to play. For this, of course, the team that wants him must release him by paying his clause.

"We have been clear about it from day one. The formula is to execute the clause, the procedure is known to all clubs. We don't have to teach anyone", Mao Ye pointed out. Thus, Barça will have to pay 25 million net (plus CPI) to close the transfer of the Sallent native. A money that has not yet left the coffers of the azulgrana team.

However, the culé board does not plan to delay the operation much. In principle, the transfer of Joan García could be closed this week, as Barça does not want to risk leaving the way clear for other clubs.

The LaLiga market opens on June 16, but the goalkeeper's release price rises 5 million extra during the last two weeks of the summer window. In turn, if the '1' of Espanyol was called up with Spain to the 'final four' of the Nations League, his release price would increase to €30M.

Joan García waits for Barça's offer to Espanyol

Meanwhile, Joan García, already on vacation, awaits the resolution of his future, with everything agreed to wear the azulgrana shirt. The goalkeeper has already said yes to Barça and is waiting for the official confirmation of his transfer, after paying the termination clause.

The Sallent native signed with Espanyol until 2028, but does not want to wait another year in a team that, thanks to his saves, was saved from relegation on the last day of Liga. Instead, Barça offers him the possibility of being a starter under the orders of Hansi Flick, regardless of what happens with the renewal of Szczesny and the future of Ter Stegen.
