Lewandowski on the verge of renewal! Discover how he can secure his future at Barça
The Polish forward is just three matches away from reaching 55% of minutes played and securing another year at the Blaugrana club
Robert Lewandowski is very close to automatically renewing his contract with FC Barcelona. According to his contract, the forward needs to play at least 55% of the season's matches with a minimum of 45 minutes on the field. With 31 out of 34 matches already played under these terms and a maximum of 61 matches in the season, the Pole is just three games away from guaranteeing his continuity at the Catalan club.
In the FC Barcelona offices, they already consider his renewal certain. The management and coaching staff have full confidence in his performance and the numbers he has achieved since his arrival. Despite some past criticisms, Lewandowski has proven to be a key piece in the team's scheme and continues to be a reference in attack.
Lewandowski, happy in Barcelona
Although FC Barcelona has begun the search for a forward for the future, Robert Lewandowski remains fully committed to the club and does not contemplate changing his surroundings. He made this clear at the gala organized by the Polish weekly Pilka Nozna, where he was recognized as the best footballer in his country. Although he could not attend in person, the forward participated via videoconference, where in addition to thanking for the award, he spoke about his present and future.
His future at Barça. When asked about his physical condition at 36 years old, the Polish forward was emphatic: "I am very proud of my age and I am not ashamed of it. I have not said my last word yet." He also reaffirmed his ambition and desire to continue being a protagonist with Barça: "I am where I want to be and my goal is to show that age is just a number. I can still achieve the same accomplishments as in previous years. I enjoy every training session and match with a smile, and I still have a hunger for titles," he assured.
Saudi Arabia is not on his horizon
Finally, Bozedar Iwanow, the event presenter, asked him about the possibility of receiving a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia. Without hesitation, Lewandowski made his position clear: "I feel very good in Barcelona, both at the club and with the fans. I am happy and I am not thinking about other places where I could play." With these statements, the Polish forward makes it clear that his priority remains Barça, regardless of rumors about his replacement in the team.
An exceptional performance despite age
At 36 years old, Lewandowski is experiencing one of the most prolific stages of his career. With 30 goals in 32 matches in the 2024-25 season, he has already surpassed the 25 goals he scored in the 2014-15 season, his first campaign with Bayern Munich. His goal-scoring ability remains intact, solidifying him as an offensive reference in Europe.
His scoring streak is also reflected in the Champions League, where he finished the group stage as the top scorer, sharing the lead with Guissaray from Borussia Dortmund. In LaLiga, he remains at the top of the scoring table with 18 goals, three more than Kylian Mbappé.
Historic at FC Barcelona: Close to surpassing legends
Since his arrival at the club in 2022, Lewandowski has proven to be a world-class forward. With his goal against Alavés, he now has 88 goals in 126 matches with Barcelona, tying Ronald Koeman as the 27th top scorer in the club's history.
Lewandowski's Goals by Season with FC Barcelona:
- 2022-23: 32 goals
- 2023-24: 26 goals
- 2024-25: 30 goals (and counting)
His next goal is to surpass Bernd Schuster (89), Justo Tejada (91), and Ronaldinho (93). With his current pace, it would not be surprising if he ends the season climbing several spots in Barcelona's scoring history.
All-Time Top Scorers of FC Barcelona:
- 24th Ronaldinho: 93 goals
- 25th Justo Tejada: 91 goals
- 26th Bernd Schuster: 89 goals

A lethal scorer against his favorite victims
Lewandowski has shown to have favorite teams to score against in LaLiga. Against Alavés, he had already achieved a hat-trick in the first round (0-3 in matchday 9). In total, he has scored 7 goals in 4 matches against the Vitorians, tying Valencia (7 goals in 5 matches) as his most punished rival. Other teams that have suffered from his effectiveness are Celta and Villarreal, with 5 goals each.
Lewandowski's words after his last goal
After the match against Alavés, Lewandowski spoke with 'Movistar+' about his performance and that of the team:
"Sometimes a match like today is important to score. We can't always win with three or five goals. They are a team that defends very well. We had few opportunities, but we are very happy," expressed the top scorer of LaLiga.
With a season still in play and an FC Barcelona in full fight for titles, the leadership and the goals of Robert Lewandowski could be key to the club's success. Just three matches away from automatic renewal, the Pole's future at Camp Nou seems secured.
