Marc Casadó has lost weight in Hansi Flick's rotation plan. The midfielder was only a starter in 2 of the last 9 games with Barça and Mallorca could offer him an exit in January
The future of Marc Casadó is beginning to generate buzz around Fútbol Club Barcelona. Despite the absences of Pedri González and Frenkie de Jong from early November to date, the Catalan midfielder has not only failed to establish himself in Hansi Flick's lineup. In the last two weeks, he has played very little in the German's rotation plans.
The '17' started against Elche (3-1) and Alavés (3-1), but didn't play against Celta and Betis, in addition to not accumulating any minutes in the last two Champions League matches, against Chelsea (3-0) and Eintracht (2-1)
After not playing in Balaídos due to a muscular twinge, he only started against the Vitorians, in addition to playing 26 minutes against Athletic (4-0) and another 16' against Atlético (3-1). In this regard, several clubs are beginning to show interest in Casadó, with Mallorca being the first to inquire with Barça about the future of the Sant Pere de Vilamajor native
Mallorca goes for Marc Casadó's loan
The latest information indicates the interest of Jagoba Arrasate's team in negotiating a six-month loan, without a mandatory purchase option, for the 22-year-old footballer.
Marc has a contract until June 2028 and his release clause remains at 100 million euros. Last summer, the Balearic team acquired the services of Pablo Torre and Jan Virgili, depositing 5 and 3.5 million euros into the Catalan club's coffers for both transfers, respectively.
Mallorca has had a very difficult first half of the season, with only 3 wins in 15 league matchdays that keep them in the relegation zone (18th) with 14 points. Therefore, it is likely they will go for a couple of reinforcements in January to get back on track in the tournament, in addition to trying to go far again in the Copa del Rey, after the runner-up finish achieved in 2024.
However, despite the little playing time accumulated in recent weeks, **Casadó is not yet thinking of leaving Barça**. Much less to go to a team fighting for survival. The Spanish international is confident in continuing to work hard to regain Hansi Flick's trust, although competition for a place in midfield is increasingly tough
Flick would have the final say in defining Casadó's future
In recent matches, the German coach has opted for Eric García as a defensive midfielder, while Frenkie de Jong has been absent for personal and health reasons. Pedri is, for now, the only untouchable player, with Marc Bernal also waiting for more opportunities in the League and Champions League.
In that context, only Flick could convince Marc Casadó to leave, a decision the coaching staff does not contemplate making mid-season. The manager takes the demanding schedule seriously and the '17', **just as he was the previous season**, could be a key piece if injuries once again affect the usual starters in the decisive stretch of 25/26
For now, Casadó has accumulated 698 minutes of action in 15 games (8 as a starter) and 1 assist in the league (against Valencia). Therefore, he must work hard to return to his best version as Pedri's partner in midfield. In 24/25, Marc accumulated 2,447 minutes in 36 appearances, contributing 1 goal and 6 assists. Will he be able to regain his lost prominence or should he go out on loan?
