Manchester City prepares a big offer for Fermín López: Will Barça accept?

Manchester City is reportedly planning to submit a 60 'kilos' offer for Barça's '16'. However, the attacking midfielder is non-transferable for coach Hansi Flick

The main European leagues are perfectly aware of the talent at FC Barcelona, so they are targeting the club's best players. In that sense, Pep Guardiola wants to take Fermín López from the Azulgrana team.

Therefore, Manchester City is preparing to launch a forceful offensive in the market: an offer close to 60 million euros for the young midfielder of the Azulgrana team, according to recent rumors.

The operation, driven directly by Pep Guardiola, reflects the English club's strategy to strengthen its midfield with a dynamic, versatile profile with goal-scoring ability.

It should be noted that Fermín López is highly valued in the Catalan team, starting with coach Hansi Flick, but the player, obviously, would like to have a greater role, something that only a starter can have, but he is not, for now.

Will Barça yield to the temptation of 60 million for Fermín?

The case of the midfielder born in El Campillo is particular, as he handles various scenarios. Therefore, if the 'Citizens' team ends up presenting the aforementioned offer to the Catalan team, it could not be ruled out that Barça at least considers the idea of a negotiation.

And, in fact, 60 'kilos' is the minimum that Barcelona would be demanding to rethink the situation of the '16', who is one of the most productive substitutes in the Barcelona squad, considering that in 88 matches (in two seasons) he has managed to score 19 goals and assist on 11 occasions.

Flick refuses to let Fermín López leave

In this context, the coach of the Azulgrana team does not want to lose a player like the attacking midfielder, taking into account that his idea is to have a squad that can double positions.

Thus, Flick has already told the sports management of Barça not to listen to offers for the '16'. However, nothing is taken for granted and the player has a contract as a Blaugrana player until the summer of 2029, with a termination clause of 50 million euros.

Although the attacking midfielder would like to have greater relevance, he is also aware that if he maintains a high level during the 2025/26 season, he can change the plans of the German coach regarding his tactical scheme.

During the past season, he saw action in 43 matches (1,948 minutes), a more than acceptable number, considering that he has only been in the first team of Barça for two seasons.

Fermín will face fierce competition in midfield

Barcelona will face the upcoming season with up to seven players for midfield. That is, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Marc Casadó, Fermín López, Marc Bernal and Dani Olmo.

This scenario will represent great competition for the center of the field, where so far only the Canary Islander and the Dutchman are undisputed in Hansi Flick's starting XI.
