Manchester United is willing to part ways with Marcus Rashford, as long as the team he signs with takes on the entirety of his salary
The winter transfer window is entering its final stretch and several operations are starting to heat up. The case of Marcus Rashford would be one of them, as Manchester United remains open to letting him go, but they have set a key condition to agree to part with the player in the coming days.
According to 'The Athletic', the 'red devils' are still willing to transfer him on loan this January, as long as the club that incorporates him takes on the entirety of his wages. This is a significant setback for FC Barcelona, one of the major interested parties in his signing, as 'Rashie’s' salary is one of the highest in the Manchester squad.
The forward earns a figure close to 18 million euros net per season, an amount that is unmanageable for a Barça team that is still looking for ways to achieve salary cap and fit his contract. If the Englishman arrives in the Catalan capital during this transfer window, the Catalans would have to pay him about 8 'kilos' until the end of the season, of which they would only be willing to take on 3 million.
Rashford must make an effort for Barça
The gap between both parties in this regard is significant, so it seems that Rashford will have to make an effort and accept a substantial pay cut, something he seems willing to do. Meanwhile, at Can Barça, they are maintaining contact with his camp and have made it clear that they will only pursue him if they are certain they can register him, while the player has always prioritized the Blaugrana offer and is inclined to wait until the last days of the transfer window.
For now, the Mancunian remains sidelined from the first team, although he has returned to training. The academy player has already stated internally that if he must stay in Manchester, he will do so without problems, putting United between a rock and a hard place. The saga is more open than ever and the outcome of the operation is expected to arrive close to February 3, the date when the winter window comes to an end.
