Bayern Munich's sports director, Max Eberl, 'took a stand' on a possible interest in Dani Olmo. For the Bavarians, the player from Terrassa is not an option, even if he were to leave Barcelona for free

Bayern Munich returned to work this week after the Christmas break, and the German press expects at least a couple of reinforcements at the Allianz Arena ahead of the winter transfer market. When asked about the Bavarians' possible interest in Dani Olmo, sports director Max Eberl downplayed the Catalan midfielder, dismissing any move even if the '20' from Barcelona were to terminate his contract.

"He is not a big deal for us", the Bavarian executive began. However, he later backtracked when asked if he liked the player from Terrassa. "If I said no, that would be quite bad", added Eberl, who ruled out pursuing Olmo or any other Barcelona player in the winter market. The Munich team could, in fact, make offers in January for Florian Wirtz or Viktor Gyökeres, after a summer where the blue and garnet team left them empty-handed in the 'race' for Dani.

Bayern forgets about Olmo, but not about Barcelona

Bayern tried to sign the Spanish international after the Euro Cup, but Olmo always made it clear that he wanted to return to Barcelona. In that sense, the Munich team also has other priorities to address before seeking reinforcements. "First, I should familiarize myself with the Spanish regulations to understand what it means to be registered or not", Eberl pointed out regarding the current situation of Barcelona.

The Bavarians have several renewals to resolve, with Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies generating the most uncertainty at the Allianz Arena. In this regard, Max Eberl made the club's position clear, downplaying market rumors. "At some point, the time will come to make a decision. That doesn’t mean it has to be tomorrow or the day after, but in the coming weeks and months, there should be clarity for all involved", argued the Bayern executive.

Another of the Bavarian figures whose contract also ends in June is Leroy Sané, whom Barcelona would be interested in for the left winger position. In Munich, beyond the statements of their sports director, they keep an eye on the blue and garnet team, as in addition to the frustrated signing of Olmo, the wound from the 4-1 defeat inflicted by Hansi Flick's team in the Champions League is still open.
