Paris Saint-Germain is looking to sign one of the breakout goalkeepers of Ligue 1: Lucas Chevalier. The Lille player is also on FC Barcelona's radar.
The FC Barcelona board is keeping an eye on several options for the goalkeeping position ahead of next summer. Although the club is betting on the recovery of Marc-André ter Stegen, doubts about the continuity of Wojciech Szczesny (who only signed for one year) and Iñaki Peña (who could request a transfer if he fails to regain his starting position) open the door for the arrival of another goalkeeper capable of succeeding the German '1' in the future.
One of the options that has gained traction recently is Lucas Chevalier. The 23-year-old goalkeeper has shone with Lille in the Champions (the French team reached the TOP-8, finishing seventh) and, although he is under contract until 2027, he could leave in the summer for a price close to 25-30 million euros. However, Barcelona has a strong rival in the 'race' for the Calais native, who conceded 10 goals in 8 league phase matches with the French team.
PSG Goes After Lucas Chevalier
According to 'L'Equipe', Paris Saint-Germain is very interested in signing Chevalier, as the continuity of Gianluigi Donnarumma is becoming increasingly uncertain. The Italian international has a contract until 2026, but Luis Enrique seems determined to bring in another goalkeeper who can provide greater security to the Parisian defense. The AC Milan goalkeeper has conceded 21 goals in 22 matches of the 2024-25 season, with 6 clean sheets.
Lucas, for his part, has accumulated 33 goals conceded in 31 appearances with Lille, in addition to 9 clean sheets. Initially, the 23-year-old goalkeeper would be inclined to go for the most attractive offer, although a call from Barcelona could change his mind. In any case, the Calais native will wait until summer to evaluate his options, as his priority is to help Lille go far in the Champions League and finish Ligue 1 in the TOP-4.
