In Turkey, they consider Ter Stegen's incorporation to Galatasaray a done deal. The Turks have already secured the signing of Leroy Sané and are now going for Barça's '1'

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona could resolve the departure of Marc-André ter Stegen much sooner than expected. The 33-year-old goalkeeper has lost his place in the squad as a result of the signing of Joan García and the decision to renew Wojciech Szczesny.

According to the Turkish sports portal 'Fanatik'. the team led by Okan Buruk has convinced the goalkeeper and captain of Barça to join a very ambitious sports project.

The club has already closed the signing of Leroy Sané (contract ends with Bayern) and prioritizes signing another experienced goalkeeper to cover the loss of the historic Fernando Muslera.

The 38-year-old Uruguayan leaves Galatasaray after 14 years at the institution and Ter Stegen is the chosen one to replace him. Knowing the alleged break between the '1' blaugrana and the coaching staff led by Hansi Flick, the Turks have not hesitated to call him.

The offer with which Galatasaray would have convinced Ter Stegen

According to 'Fanatik', the Ottoman team would be willing to pay Ter Stegen 5 million net per year, almost 2 'kilos' less than what he currently receives in Barcelona.

The player from Mönchengladbach, at 33 years old, showed in the 'final four' of the Nations League that he is back to his physical peak, but his recent history of injuries generates uncertainty for the future.

And Marc-André missed practically the entire previous season due to a complete tear of the patellar tendon in his right knee and, in 23/24, he was also out for almost three months due to another lumbar injury.

However, Galatasaray is confident of recovering the best version of the German goalkeeper in 25/26, a season in which Okan Buruk's team has as its main objective, in addition to retaining the title of their league, to go far in the Champions League.

In 24/25, the club was left out of the league phase after falling in the last previous round against Young Boys (4-2 on aggregate). This 2025, there will be no margin for error to enter the league phase.

Galatasaray's ways to close the signing of Ter Stegen

In that sense, the Ottoman team keeps three ways open to secure the signing of the goalkeeper and captain of Barcelona. The first is the one that would best fit the finances of the Turkish club, although everything will depend on Barça's position:

  1. Letter of freedom: Barça does not rule out giving Ter Stegen a letter of freedom. The '1' ends his contract in 2028 and the club could offer him financial compensation (one year net of salary) to close this route. Galatasaray, logically, would be the most benefited, since it would close the signing at 'zero cost'.
  2. Loan with mandatory purchase option: another viable option is to negotiate a loan for one year, with a mandatory purchase option in 2026. The Turkish team would have to assume a majority percentage of his current salary (around €7M) and pay an extra amount in June of next year (around €5M).
  3. A transfer at a low price: the third alternative would be to finalize a definitive transfer for a smaller amount (less than €10M) in the coming days. Marc-André is listed for around 12 'kilos' in Transfermarkt and, for Barça, getting rid of his contract by earning a few million for the transfer would be a real blessing.

Thus, everything will depend on the 'Ok' of the German goalkeeper to the operation and the facilities that Barça gives to Galatasaray to close the agreement. In principle, the blaugrana team prioritizes resolving this folder as soon as possible to free up salary margin.

The culé board expects to receive on Monday LaLiga's approval for the transfer of Joan García. Afterwards, it will be the turn of renewing Szczesny and addressing the signing of a left winger. For this, Barça needs to be back in the 1:1 rule, a factor that allows reinvesting in reinforcements every euro earned -or released- in the summer market.
