The Club World Cup already has seven of its eight teams qualified for the quarterfinals. On Tuesday, Real Madrid did their homework against Juventus with a hard-fought victory, by the minimum, against a timid 'bianconeri' team (1-0).

After a fairly even first half, with few clear chances in both areas, the 'merengues' made an extra effort in the second half with a remarkable physical display. In the midst of the heat and rain in Miami, a goal by Gonzalo García in the 54th minute made the difference in favor of Xabi Alonso's team.

A header from Gonzalo made the difference for a Madrid side that was superior in the second half

Kolo Muani and Yildiz were the best for Juve in the first half, worrying Courtois with two shots that went slightly wide. The Italians controlled the midfield well and Madrid took almost half an hour to arrive with danger.

A cross from Valverde from the baseline allowed Bellingham to shoot at will, but the Juventus defense cleared under the posts. Fede himself warned again before the break, with a powerful shot from medium distance that almost slipped past Di Gregorio.

In the second half, Real was noticeably superior to the 'Vecchia signora'. The Whites moved their lines forward and hurt Juventus on the flanks, bombarding the area with many crosses and filtered passes.

In the 54th minute, a cross from Alexander-Arnold from the right found Gonzalo García entering alone in the center of the area. The youth player took advantage of Rüdiger's screen and headed at will to shoot Di Gregorio.

With a lead on the scoreboard, Xabi Alonso took the opportunity to give Kylian Mbappé his first minutes in the tournament. Juve reacted with a dangerous shot from Nico González, but it was Madrid who continued to have the clearest opportunities.

Tchouaméni demanded a save from Di Gregorio in the 82nd minute with a very powerful shot, while Courtois, unlike other matches, did not have to push himself too hard to maintain the 'merengue' advantage. Finally, the Whites retained a 1-0 lead that could have been a much more comfortable advantage, but it is still worth the pass to the quarterfinals.

Real Madrid awaits Dortmund or Monterrey in the quarterfinals

Now, Real Madrid awaits the winner of the match between Borussia Dortmund and Monterrey, in the night's duel (early morning in Spain). The Germans led their group with an advantage over Fluminense, while the Mexicans advanced as runners-up to Inter Milan, maintaining their unbeaten record.

On that same side of the bracket, PSG and Bayern will define the other semifinalist. Madrid avoided another surprise, after the eliminations of Inter and Manchester City on Monday. Pep Guardiola's team fell in extra time against Al Hilal (3-4), which means that the Saudi team will be the rival of Fluminense in the quarterfinals. The other key will be defined by Palmeiras and Chelsea.
