The quarterfinals of the 2025 Club World Cup are set: great matches on the way. See how the pairings turned out and what dates are being considered
The round of 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 have come to an end. An exciting phase with a total of 16 matches, of which eight teams were winners:
- Palmeiras
- Chelsea
- Paris Saint-Germain
- Bayern Munich
- Fluminense
- Al-Hilal
- Real Madrid
- Borussia Dortmund
A round of 16 where, without a doubt, there were a couple of big surprises, represented in the fall of two greats of European football: Inter Milan, a team that continues to fall at the sporting level and that could not beat Fluminense after falling 0-2, with goals from Germán Cano and Hércules; and the debacle of Manchester City, who succumbed to Al-Hilal in one of the great 'upsets' of the tournament so far.
It was a match full of goals (3-4), where the tit-for-tat ended up hurting the 'citizens', who started winning very early thanks to a goal from Bernardo Silva. However, the Arabs were resilient and responsive, to the point that they ended up winning with a decisive goal from Marcos Leonardo, who put the final touch to the match.
Bayern, PSG and Madrid did not fail in their keys
Beyond these surprises, the other big Europeans did not disappoint. Bayern Munich ended up taking an demanding 2-4 against a daring and impetuous Flamengo, who made the defeat expensive. For its part, PSG had no problem in running over Inter Miami with a resounding 0-4.
In turn, Real Madrid also delivered: they won 1-0 against Juventus in a match where, despite the short score, they were far superior to a sterile version of the Turin team.
Finally, Borussia Dortmund was the last team to secure their place in the quarterfinals. The Germans also did not have an easy match against Monterrey.
Despite winning the match 2-0 before 25' of play, with a double from Guirassy, the Germans had to manage a match where the 'Rayados' knew how to stand up and show themselves as a very competitive team. Even, the Mexicans managed to cut distances with a goal from Germán Berterame. However, that would not be enough to turn around a quite entertaining and back-and-forth match.
