FC Barcelona confirmed the time off for Fermín López. The 22-year-old player suffered a muscle injury in the left iliopsoas in the final minutes of the match against Getafe (3-0) and will be out for around three weeks.
The '16' lay on the Estadi Johan Cruyff pitch just before the final whistle of the match, with visible signs of pain in the groin area. Initially, a more serious injury was feared, but tests carried out on Monday confirmed that it is a low-risk ailment.
However, the club will strictly respect the time off established by the club's doctors. Fermín already missed 11 games last season due to muscle problems, with the player from Huelva, like Dani Olmo, being prone to injuries.
The matches that Fermín López will miss with Barça
- Real Oviedo vs FC Barcelona: matchday 6 of LaLiga 25/26
- FC Barcelona vs Real Sociedad: matchday 7 of LaLiga 25/26
- FC Barcelona vs Paris Saint-Germain: matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League 25/26
- Sevilla FC vs FC Barcelona: matchday 8 of LaLiga 25/26
Fortunately for Barcelona, there is another international break at the beginning of October. Fermín, of course, will not travel with Spain for the matches against Georgia (10/11) and Bulgaria (10/14), both at home, but he could be available for the return of the Blaugrana team to action in LaLiga, on Saturday, October 18 against Girona (16:15 CEST).
In that sense, the player from Huelva will be a confirmed absence for the matches against Real Oviedo (Thursday 25), Real Sociedad (Sunday 28), Paris Saint Germain (October 1) and Sevilla (October 5). With his absence, Hansi Flick loses a key piece in his rotation plan in the middle of a very tight stretch in the 25/26 calendar.
Fermín López's injury, a headache for Hansi Flick
The player from El Campillo started against Mallorca, Valencia and Newcastle, scoring a brace against the 'ché' team. So far, he has accumulated 283 minutes of action and his battle with Dani Olmo for the starting position is giving very good benefits to the collective Blaugrana performance.
The player from Egara took advantage of his starting position against Getafe with a goal and an assist. However, both are prone to muscle problems and, without Fermín available, Hansi Flick will have to look for other alternatives for this demarcation in order to avoid an overload of minutes for Olmo.
Raphinha can occupy this role, as can Marcus Rashford himself. The Brazilian, in fact, started as a midfielder against Levante (2-3), but completed a rather poor first half.
Gavi is the other alternative, but the midfielder had to undergo arthroscopy to overcome his right meniscus injury. Therefore, he will be out for at least another month. With this, Flick could face his first major headache in a season whose calendar gives no respite.
