Joan García accompanied the Barça basketball team on Friday at the Palau Blaugrana. The Barça goalkeeper, along with Eric García, revealed how his recovery is progressing
Barcelona Basketball secured their second victory in the EuroLeague against Valencia at the Palau Blaugrana (108-102) with two special guests. Joan García and Eric García enjoyed the Catalan victory during the team's break for the international window.
In the case of the goalkeeper, '13' continues his recovery after undergoing surgery on September 28. The player from Sallent suffered a rupture of the internal meniscus of his left knee and his time off was estimated at 4 to 6 weeks, according to his progress.
In a brief chat with 'Movistar+', García explained how his recovery with Barça is progressing. Although the club has not ruled him out for the final stretch of October, thinking about the Clásico against Real Madrid (October 26), the goalkeeper does not believe he will be ready in time for matchday 10 of LaLiga.
Joan García Would Be Out for Another Month with Barça
"The knee is doing well, we'll see how I progress, but for now, everything is going well," said the 24-year-old goalkeeper regarding his physical condition. However, he made it clear that his return is not yet imminent.
"In a month, more or less," he said regarding his return to action. If this forecast is confirmed, Joan would reappear after the November international break. Barça will play 6 matches between October 18 and November 9, 4 in La Liga and 2 in the Champions League.
The player from Sallent missed the last 3 Barça matches (Real Sociedad, PSG and Sevilla) and will also be unavailable against Girona and Olympiacos. Considering that the first Clásico of the 25/26 season is played in two weeks, it is very unlikely that the '13' will be available at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Szczesny Must Step Up as Joan García Returns

García was injured in the match against Oviedo (1-3), where he committed an error that cost a goal for the 'carbayones'. Like Gavi, he had to undergo knee surgery to clean the meniscus, although the midfielder's case was much more serious because it required a suture.
Thus, everything indicates that Wojciech Szczesny will remain in goal for Hansi Flick's team for the upcoming matches. The Pole has conceded 7 goals in 3 matches, while Joan García conceded 5 goals in his first 7 official appearances with Barça.
Although 'Tek' knows he's the Catalan goalkeeper's substitute, he must draw on his experience to step up and regain the good form he showed in the second half of the 24/25 season. The '35', while having conceded many goals, has not been primarily responsible for the Barça's defensive collapse in the last two matches.
