The letter of Bartomeu celebrating the 60 years of the Camp Nou

Josep Maria Bartomeu has wanted to write this Sunday a letter with reason of the 60 anniversary of the Camp Nou, the Barcelona temple. An important day for the history of the club that needed of some words of the president. And the letter is quite moving, reviewing big part of the notable figures that have gone through Barcelona.

Today, when we celebrate sixty years of the inauguration of the Camp Nou, a decisive milestone in our history, want to express, for the Club, the gratitude to all the people that have made possible this extraordinary history of success. Partners, peñistas, fans, players, directors, architects, technicians and employees, thank you for living acutely the Stadium, the privileged stage of so many and so many emotions.

The history of the Barça has been always linked to the one of his stadiums, from the field of the street Industry, ours first stable house and where the Club initiated his consolidation, and, more advance, the field of Them Corts, where the football turned into big popular show. Each stadium answers to a stage of the Barça and of the world of the football.

In the decade of the 50 the Managerial Board chaired by Agustí Montal Galobart did a brave bet, bought the terrains where at present situates the Camp Nou, a decision that was ratified by the partners in referendum, an example more than the democratic and participatory vocation of our club. That was an action with an enormous vision of future, since they purchased more terrains of the necessary, that years later allowed the construction of the Palau and the Track of Ice, strengthening the bet polideportiva of the Club.

The construction of the Camp Nou also are due to it the determination of the Board chaired by Francesc Looked-Sans, that commissioned the work to the architects Francesc Mitjans, Josep Soteras and Lorenzo García-Barbón. The big vision of future of these architects allowed to project a modern and functional stadium, that later has been able to adapt to the requirements of the new times, as for example the enlargement with the third terracing, in 1982, under the presidency of Josep Lluís Núñez. And also it will allow to tackle the deep planned remodeling in the project of the Espai Barça, to convert the Camp Nou in a stadium of world-wide reference in the 21st century.

The Camp Nou is and will keep on being ours. Where all the barcelonistas have some particular memory, where have lived moments of glory and of sadness, and where our technicians and players have written our sportive history, from that first goal of Eulogio Martínez, in the inaugural party, with the team that led Ladislao Kubala, until the last poker of goals of Messi in front of the Eibar.

The Camp Nou does today 60 years. During this time has gone adapting to unthinkable needs when it built . The base is very solid, but is natural that after so many years was necessary a so ambitious reform like which made possible his construction. By this reason, in the year 2014 promote the Espai Barça, a project ratified again by the partners in referendum, that includes the transformation of all the installations that the Club has in the neighbourhood of Them Corts, with the remodeling of the Camp new, the construction of a new Palau Blaugrana and the Campus Barça, and the construction of the Stadium Johan Cruyff in the Sportive City Joan Gamper, that already has given the starting signal with the placing of the first stone on 14 September.

This collective dream of all the barcelonistas will allow us keep growing and convert our installations in the best sportive complex of the world in the centre of a big city. Already we expect with illusion the celebration of the 125 anniversary of our club, the year 2024, the future Stadium and with the dream of the Espai Barça turned into reality. Long life in the Camp Nou!
