UEFA sets its deadline to act or not against Barça for the accusation of corruption

The 'Case Negreira' follow giving of what speak, especially after the Fiscalía announced that it will undertake legal actions against the FC Barcelona in front of what consider like facts of corruption continued, having like part accused to the ex-presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell, as well as to the own Catalan entity in quality of subject legal person to penal procedures.

It costs to remember that, in his moment, the president of LaLiga, Javier Thebes, sustained that the European organism would commission of the case after the patronal could not act in consequence, since for then already had prescribed. Nevertheless, LaLiga also has presented like private prosecution.

The UEFA will expect until mediated of 2023

In accordance with the information given to know by the newspaper 'Sportive World', the body rector of the balompié to continental level does not have foreseen to make any movement on the case. For this, and in front of the rumours on a possible exclusion of the Barça of the Champions, the newspaper has quoted the regulation of the competition that establishes the possible sanctions in case that some club incur in acts of corruption.

In his article 4.2, the organism establishes how would proceed in these cases: "If, on the base of all the circumstances in fact and of the information that it has, the UEFA conclude, to his whole satisfaction, that a club has been involved, direct and/or indirectly, from the entrance in force of the section 3 of the article 50 of the Statutes of the UEFA, that is to say, on 27 April 2007, in any activity headed to organise or influence in the result of a party to national or international level, the UEFA will declare to said club no eligible to participate in the competition".

To which sanctions exposes the Barça?

The rule of the competition also leaves clear which is the lapse for this type of measures: "Said inelegibilidad only will be effective during a season futbolística. When taking his decision, the UEFA can base in a decision of a national sportive organism or international, of a referee's court or of a state court, but is not forced to this. The UEFA can abstain to declare to a no eligible club to participate in the competition if it is convinced that the impact of a decision taken in relation with the same circumstances, in fact by a national sportive organism or international, referee's court or state court, already has had the effect to prevent that this club participate in a competition of clubs of the UEFA".
