Ángel María Villar will not be president of the UEFA

This Tuesday has done official that Ángel María Villar will not present to the presidency of the UEFA. All after the own Real Spanish Federation of Football (RFEF) announced, by means of an official communiqué, that his president would not attend to the fight by the presidency. "After a deep reflection, have decided to withdraw my candidature", confirmed the presidents of the RFEF.

Villar Argued that they have been "abundant the voices of the Spanish football" that have done him recapacitar and not to present stop to centre in the RFEF. However, the Basque knew well that it did not have the sufficient supports inside the maximum continental organism futbolístico.

The past Friday 2 September the UEFA communicated to all his associations member that the three candidates to his Presidency had surpassed satisfactorily the examination of suitability carried out by the Commission of Control of the FIFA like previous requirement to the celebration of the elections to this charge. This fact constitutes a big news for the UEFA. In what to me personally respecta, confirms of irrefutable way my ethical aptitude and integrity to continue developing my functions like member of the Council of the FIFA and Executive Committee of the UEFA, in spite of some public opinions that in the last months like this had questioned it.

From October of 2015, in attention to the sucedido and by personal responsibility assumed the own functions of the President of the UEFA. It has constituted a true satisfaction make this task still in difficult times, representing and working by the UEFA in crowd of events during all this lapse, putting the well of the organisation before any electoral personal interest. It would like me stand out by his importance: the Extraordinary Congress of the UEFA of 25 February in Zúrich, the Ordinary Congress of the UEFA of 3 May in Budapest, the direction of the different meetings of his Executive Committee, the finals of the Champions League and Europe League in Milan and Basilea, the EURO 2016 in France, and the meeting the past month of August in Monaco with the representatives of the clubs to redefine the new format of the Champions League. I take advantage of to thank the national associations, members of the Executive Committee and Administration of the UEFA for having me loaned his invaluable help and confidence all this period.

The past 19 July presented my candidature to the Presidency of the UEFA with an ambitious program centred in positioning to the football like main protagonist of our organisation. Although since they have been numerous the supports that have received to continue forward with my campaign, after a deep reflection, have decided to withdraw my candidature. They are abundant the voices of the representatives of the Spanish football that have done me feel and have requested me that it continue working by the football of my country presenting in the next months again my candidature to President of the RFEF, to which have devoted the greater part of my life like director.
I create firmly that the UEFA, like organism that joins all the European football, finds in position to reach big put in the future.

I want to finalise wishing luck to the two candidates and thanking all those that have supported me during all this time, reaffirming my commitment to follow working by the European and world-wide football from the exert of my functions like Vice-president of the Council of the FIFA and Executive Committee of the UEFA.
