Alejandro Balde was the victim of a completely reprehensible and regrettable incident in the match between FC Barcelona and Getafe last Saturday. The left-back reported racist insults directed at him from a sector of the blue fans present at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, a situation that has been condemned by the football world.

The repercussions of the despicable events that took place in the Getafe venue have been such that the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, has stepped in to express his rejection of the sad event that the Barcelona defender had to endure.

Gianni Infantino's strong response to the racist insults directed at Balde

"I am horrified by the racist insults directed at FC Barcelona player Alejandro Balde during his La Liga match against Getafe CF; and I condemn these acts, which have no place in football or in society," began the highest authority of the institution that governs football federations globally.

"Racism is a scourge against which we must remain united to combat and defeat it. No to racism. No to any form of discrimination", concluded Infantino his condemnation of what occurred in the La Liga match, also recalling the famous slogan that FIFA has been displaying for many years: 'No to racism'.

Now, once the existence of those racist insults has been reflected in the referee's report by González Fuertes, we can only wait for the detailed document from the match informant of La Liga to find out if the governing body denounces the intolerant chants that Balde reported and the possible sanction that the Getafe fans could receive.
