FC Barcelona and Valencia CF face each other this Sunday in Catalonia for Matchday 4 of LaLiga EA Sports 2025/26. Hansi Flick's team arrives at their home debut after drawing in Vallecas against Rayo (1-1) and are looking for their fifth consecutive home victory against the 'che' team.

In the League, Barça has a nine-year unbeaten home streak against Valencia, with 7 wins and 2 draws in that period (2016-2025). Carlos Corberán's last visit to Catalan soil resulted in a historic thrashing (7-1), on a day when Frenkie de Jong, Ferran Torres, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, Fermín López (double) César Tárrega (own goal) scored.

Valencia has not won away in Barcelona since 15/16

Leo Messi laments during the Barça-Valencia (1-2) of LaLiga 15/16

The last time the 'blanquinegro' team took all three points from Barcelona was April 17, 2016. On Matchday 33 of LaLiga 15/16, the team then managed by Pako Ayestarán surprised Luis Enrique's side (1-2) with goals from Ivan Rakitic (own goal) and Santi Mina.

Leo Messi scored in the second half for the 'azulgrana' team, who would end up winning that League with a one-point advantage over Real Madrid. Valencia, for its part, finished in 12th place after a season in which they flirted with relegation.

In the subsequent nine seasons, the 'che' team only managed to salvage a couple of draws in 18/19 (2-2) and 20/21 (also 2-2), while Barça won on the other seven occasions. The biggest thrashing was the 7-1 of the previous season, followed by a 5-2 in 19/20 and two 4-2s in 16/17 and 23/24.

The balance, in that sense, is seven 'culé' victories and two draws in nine games, with 30 goals scored and only 13 conceded. In general terms, in the League, Valencia has not defeated Barça since 19/20 (2-0 at Mestalla).

Barcelona and Valencia, separated by only 3 points on Matchday 4

For the fourth matchday duel, both teams arrive separated by only 3 points in the standings. The team managed by Hansi Flick started the 25/26 season with victories against Mallorca (0-3) and Levante (2-3), but stumbled in Vallecas against Rayo (1-1). Therefore, they have 7 out of a possible 9 points.

Valencia, on the other hand, started the season with a home draw against Real Sociedad (1-1) and a defeat on their visit to Osasuna (1-0). However, Carlos Corberán's team recovered on Matchday 3 by thrashing Getafe (3-0), a surprising result considering Getafe's good start (a couple of away wins).

Getafe, in fact, will be the 'culés'' opponent on Matchday 5, also in Catalonia. Valencia, on the other hand, will go to Mestalla against Athletic after their visit to Barça. After the international break there will also be a midweek matchday (Matchday 6), which will be played between Tuesday, September 23, and Thursday, September 25. The 'culés' visit Real Oviedo that Thursday.
