FC Barcelona extended their lead at the top of LaLiga EA Sports 2025/26 thanks to another thrashing against Real Betis (3-5). This result, along with Real Madrid's surprise defeat on Sunday against Celta de Vigo (0-2), allows Barça to pull 4 points clear of Los Blancos at the top.

Xabi Alonso's team, on the other hand, made a fool of themselves at the Santiago Bernabéu, after suffering two expulsions in the second half and completing a match to forget. **A brace from Williot Swedberg** gave Celta their first win in 19 years on the 'merengue's' ground and leaves Madrid on the brink of the abyss, after earning only 6 of the last 15 points.

Meanwhile, Barça, with their victory at La Cartuja, became the first team to reach the 40-point mark, surpassing their immediate pursuers, Real Madrid (36) and Villarreal (35). The 'Yellow Submarine' also won on matchday and, with a game in hand, could even overtake Real Madrid for second place
