LEWANDOWSKI SENT OFF FOR TOUCHING HIS NOSE
Scandal! Mateu Lahoz alleges irregularities in Lewandowski's nose report
In the 22-23 season, Lewandowski was sent off by Gil Manzano. When the forward was heading to the locker room, he touched his nose and the referee recorded the offence in the report and he was suspended for three games. Now, Mateu Lahoz alleges that the report was drawn up with irregularities
Robert Lewandowski's expulsion in the Osasuna-Barça game in the 2022/23 season is one of the most controversial in recent memory. The striker had to leave the field due to a second yellow card, and when he was heading to the locker room he made the gesture of touching his nose.
Referee Gil Manzano considered the gesture as an insult and reflected it in the match report, and in an inexplicable decision they sanctioned the Barcelona player with three games, one for the red card and two for the gesture towards the referee.
Mateu Lahoz Reports irregularities in the record
The complaint made by former referee Mateu Lahoz in statements to the program "Tiempo de juego" on the Cope channel, has reopened the case of Lewandowski's nose after stating that the report of that match was drawn up irregularly. According to his version of the events, he was present and witnessed that the drafting of the report was induced by the also former referee Rubinos Pérez, who together with Gil Manzano took advantage of the minutes after the match to look for information about the meaning of the gesture made by Lewandowski in Poland.
Mateu Lahoz's statements are very serious, as he is accusing the referee of that match, Gil Manzano, and the former referee Rubinos Pérez, current number two on the refereeing committee, of breaking the rules and drawing up the report in an irregular and clearly premeditated manner.
According to Mateu Lahoz, the referee of the match did not describe what happened on the field, but rather allegedly looked for a formula to justify his decision and thus be able to sanction the Barça striker. Following this complaint, the normal thing would be for LaLiga and the referees committee to act immediately by opening an investigation to clarify what happened; the accusations are very serious and put an entire group under suspicion.
