Vinicius Jr., two days after the Clásico against Barça, issued a public apology for his reaction after being substituted in the 72nd minute. The '7' was heavily criticised for going straight to the dressing room
Vinicius Jr.'s controversial reaction against Xabi Alonso and the Real Madrid bench during the Clásico of matchday 10 of LaLiga 25/26, ultimately only cost the Brazilian an apology through his social networks. On Wednesday, two days after the match against FC Barcelona (2-1), the winger published a message offering his apologies to the Madrid fans.
In the 72nd minute of the match, Xabi decided to put Rodrygo in place of Vini. After learning of the change, the '7' went off very angry straight to the locker room, shouting, among other things: "Always me. I'm leaving the team. I'm leaving, I better leave", a reaction that did not generate any gesture or comment from the Tolosa coach.
Vinicius' apology to Real Madrid fans for his 'show' in the Clásico
The text shared by Vini on his 'X' account is as follows:
"Today I want to apologize to all Madrid fans for my reaction when I was substituted in the Clásico. Just as I have already done in person during today's training session, I also want to apologize again to my teammates, club, and president.
Sometimes my passion gets the better of me because I always want to win and help my team. My competitive character comes from the love I feel for this club and for everything it represents. I promise to continue fighting every second for the good of Real Madrid, as I have done since day one."
What is striking about the statement on 'X', where the Brazilian winger does not usually have much activity (he had not published anything since June), is that it does not mention the 'merengue' coach, Xabi Alonso. The man from Tolosa stated, after the victory in the Clásico, that he would address Vinicius' reaction when the squad returned to work this Wednesday.
"We'll talk about it. There are different personalities in the squads and you have to understand them. Now we will enjoy it and then I will talk to him, of course," explained the Real Madrid coach at the post-Clásico press conference.
Xabi Alonso Will Not Change His Plan with Vinicius
Beyond the controversy against Barça, the Basque coach is clear on how to manage the minutes of Vinicius and the rest of the squad. For now, the only 'untouchables' on the team are Thibaut Courtois and Kylian Mbappé. The rest can enter and leave the starting XI at any time.
In Vini's case, although he has started in 10 of Madrid's 13 official matches this season, he only played the full 90 minutes in 3 of them. On Saturday, against Valencia at the Bernabéu (9:00 PM CEST), it would not be surprising to see Rodrygo Goes once again occupying the '7' position as a left winger.
