Real Madrid suffered their third defeat in their last nine matches against Manchester City, and their second consecutive one. After the Clásico in the league, the team only won three games
Real Madrid's defeat against Manchester City (1-2) extended the crisis for the team managed by Xabi Alonso in the last two months of 2025. Since the victory against FC Barcelona in the first Clásico of the season (2-1), the 'merengues' have only managed to win three matches in nine appearances.
Madrid thrashed Valencia (4-0) on November 1st, just before starting a slump in play and results that, for the moment, has no end for the 'White House'. The Whites fell at Anfield against Liverpool (1-0) and, afterwards, added two consecutive draws in the League against Rayo (0-0) and Elche (2-2).
Although Xabi Alonso's team won with difficulty in Greece against **Olympiacos** (3-4), Real Madrid continued to show doubts in their performance and, against **Girona** (1-1), lost the lead in LaLiga to Barça, squandering a 5-point lead in one month
Beyond the thrashing of Athletic (0-3) at San Mamés, the team relived its worst feelings with the defeat against Celta (0-2) on Sunday. A result that left the Whites 4 points behind Barça after 16 matchdays.

Real Madrid's crisis leaves Xabi Alonso one defeat from definitive KO
Finally, on City's return to the Champions League at Chamartín, they came back from Rodrygo Goes's opening goal with strikes from Nico O'Reilly and Erling Haaland before halftime. The record after the Clásico is 3 wins, 3 draws, and 3 losses, with 15 goals for and 10 against.
Although the performance against the Manchester team improved upon the debacle against Celta, Xabi Alonso remains on thin ice and, if he fails to win the three matches Real Madrid has before Christmas, the Tolosa-born coach could leave his post before the end of the year, after only six months in charge of the team.
The players' response was positive in the Champions League, despite the context of the match: maximum pressure to win at home against a top rival and with up to eight absences due to injury, including the starting center-backs, Dean Huijsen and Éder Militao, the right-backs (Carvajal and Trent), and the goalscorer Kylian Mbappé, in addition to Camavinga, Mendy, and Alaba.
However, the message from a section of the fans, leaving the Santiago Bernabéu before the 85th minute, may have been a death sentence for the coach from Tolosa in Florentino Pérez's opinion.
Madrid, Obligated to Win What Remains in 2025
Real Madrid fans have stopped believing in the team and the epic comebacks of the Ancelotti Champions League era. Furthermore, there is clear discontent with some key players on the squad, such as Rodrygo (who hadn't scored since March) and Vinicius himself, who has now gone 13 games without finding the back of the net
Real Madrid will visit Alavés next Sunday (9:00 PM) and, next Wednesday, will visit Talavera (9:00 PM) in their Copa del Rey debut. After that, the Whites will host Sevilla on Saturday the 20th (also at 9:00 PM) before the Christmas break.
Any result other than a victory in these three matches could seal the dismissal of Xabi Alonso, who took charge of the team in June to play in the Club World Cup. So far, the Tolosa native has achieved 19 wins, 4 draws, and 5 losses in 28 official matches, with a total of 56 goals for and 30 against (+26).
Under his command, Real Madrid reached the Club World Cup semifinals (they were thrashed by PSG, 4-0), they are second in the League after 16 matchdays, 4 points behind Barcelona, and occupy seventh place in the Champions League group stage standings with 12 points, 6 behind leaders Arsenal and still within the TOP-8 that grants direct access to the round of 16
Real Madrid's last three matches in December:

- Talavera CF vs Real Madrid: Wednesday, December 17 (9:00 PM) for the Copa del Rey Round of 32.
