Álex Collado leaves an unexpected economic boost in the coffers of FC Barcelona

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona continues to take economic advantage of players who have not been part of the club for some time. Recently, after the incorporation of Ilaix Moriba to Celta de Vigo was made official, which generated income for the Blaugrana team, now it is another youth player who leaves an extra income for the 'culés': Álex Collado.

The right winger was sent by the Catalan team to Real Betis during the summer market of the 2023/24 season. Now, Collado has become a new player for Al-Shamal SC, a Qatari team that paid the Andalusians a total of €2.5M to acquire the services of the native of Sabadell, who signed with the institution until June 30, 2028.

It is important to remember that, when Barça got rid of Álex Collado, they secured 20% on a future sale of the player. Therefore, Barcelona will receive approximately €500,000 for the operation between Betis and Al-Shamal SC.

End of the economic link between Barça and Álex Collado

With this operation, any economic link between Barcelona and Álex Collado ends, who definitively left the club in 2023, after having played a scarce two official matches with the first team, one in the 2018/19 season and another in 2019/20, adding 89 minutes of play.

Without consolidating in the first team, Collado faced loans during the 2021/22 season to Granada CF and in 2022/23 to Elche. Finally, for the 2023/24 season, the Blaugrana team dispensed with his services, retaining the aforementioned clause of a percentage on future sales, which is now settled.

SEASON TEAM MATCHES GOALS ASSISTS MINUTES PLAYED
2021/22 Granada CF 17 2 1 1.024
2022/23 Elche 17 1 1 768

Barcelona's income in the market for youth players and secondary operations

So far in the summer market, Barcelona has received no less than €15M for operations that do not directly affect first-team players, distributed as follows:

  1. €8M for the transfer of Jean-Clair Todibo to West Ham, from OGC Nice.
  2. €6M after the effective purchase of Alex Valle by Como.
  3. €600,000 for Ilaix Moriba and his transfer to Celta de Vigo.
  4. €400,000 now for Álex Collado.

In turn, the club is still awaiting some operations that could be completed this summer, such as the possible sale of Óscar Mingueza from Celta de Vigo, of which the Catalan team owns 50% of a future sale, the same percentage it has for Mika Mármol, from UD Las Palmas, or Estanis Pedrola from Sampdoria. It is also expected that the situation of Ez Abde from Betis will change course, for whom Barça has 20% of a possible future transfer.
