With Joan closed and Nico Williams very close, Barça accelerates its plan to register them without problems and comply with LaLiga's requirements

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona is making a strong push in this transfer market. This is evidenced by the already official signing of Joan García, from RCD Espanyol, and the possible arrival of Nico Williams, from Athletic Club, to reinforce the left wing.

An operation that is gaining more and more strength. In fact, there is talk that there is already an agreement with the Pamplona forward, with only the respective payment of his release clause (€62M) remaining.

However, despite the fact that the culé team was able to make the pertinent economic effort to add the Catalan goalkeeper to its ranks —and it is expected that it will end up doing the same with the Pamplona winger—, Barcelona still has to resolve a fundamental issue: their respective registrations in LaLiga. The Barcelona team must operate under the 1:1 rule, avoiding conflicts such as those that occurred in the past with the registration of Dani Olmo or Pau Víctor.

FC Barcelona has a plan to regularize the situation

With the aim of regularizing their situation, the team from the Ciudad Condal already has a plan in place, as reported by SPORT. The first step would be for the auditor to validate the VIP seat operation. For this, these must be built before June 30, something that has already been fulfilled.

Apart from this operation, between €30 and €40M in income would be needed, according to the same source. Of that amount, Barcelona has already obtained almost half, thanks to income generated by transactions such as:

  1. The sale of Jean-Clair Todibo to West Ham: €8M
  2. The sale of Álex Valle to Como 1907: €6M
  3. The sale of Ilaix Moriba to Celta: €600,000
  4. The sale of Álex Collado to Al Shamal SC: €500,000

In turn, possible business avenues are still being considered that could leave new income for the club, such as the departures of Ludovit Reis from Hamburg, Trincão from Sporting CP, Mika Mármol from UD Las Palmas, Ez Abde from Betis or Mingueza from Celta de Vigo.

Barcelona is also awaiting other key situations, not only to facilitate the registration of Joan García and the possible incorporation of Nico Williams, but also some important renewals, such as those of Frenkie de Jong or Wojciech Szczęsny. These will depend to a large extent on the movements in the market.

The Azulgrana club has already executed strategic departures and is preparing more

In this context, Barcelona has already made a strategic move by getting rid of Clément Lenglet. His return after the loan to Atlético de Madrid, with a high salary, was a problem for the salary scale, so it was decided to give him the letter of freedom. Beyond that, the club has several names on the departure ramp, either by transfer or loan:

  1. Pablo Torre
  2. Pau Víctor
  3. Iñaki Peña
  4. Oriol Romeu

However, if the Azulgrana team manages to get rid of these players —whose salary impact is not so significant—, it would still need a strong blow to free up real margin. At this point, two names emerge as possible key exits: Ansu Fati and Marc-André ter Stegen.

Ansu Fati and his possible move to AS Monaco

A possible move to Monaco is being managed for Ansu Fati, which, if it materializes this summer, would free up a significant sum on the club's salary scale. It is worth remembering that the culé '10' is currently one of the best-paid players at Barcelona (€13.9M gross, according to Capology), placing him in the top 5, something difficult to sustain given his loss of prominence.

Ter Stegen: unknown in the goal

As for Ter Stegen, his possible departure is not so clear. Although the arrival of Joan García could change the panorama in the goal, the German goalkeeper is totally determined not to listen to offers and stay to fight for his position. His departure would considerably alleviate the salary mass, but for now it is not considered imminent.

Likewise, the name of Andreas Christensen also sounds like a possible departure. Market after market, he appears as a candidate to leave the club. Will this be the definitive occasion? We will have to see what the summer holds for FC Barcelona.
