Barça has managed to clean up its squad by reducing the number of loans per summer. This year, Ansu Fati, Pau Víctor, Pablo Torre and Ter Stegen could leave via this route
The FC Barcelona board has resolved in the first days of July the definitive departure of two of the three footballers loaned last season. With the transfer of Álex Valle to Como in Italy and the termination of Clément Lenglet's contract, only the return of Oriol Romeu to Girona remains to be resolved.
The midfielder played on loan with Míchel's team in 24/25 and Barça hopes to receive a smaller compensation for his definitive transfer to the 'albirrojo' team. Looking ahead to the next summer market, the azulgrana team's plan regarding loan departures will be the same.
At the moment, four players from Hansi Flick's squad have options to leave on loan between July and August: Ansu Fati, Pablo Torre, Pau Víctor and Marc-André ter Stegen.
Other players on the departure ramp are Iñaki Peña, Héctor Fort, Andreas Christensen and Gerard Martín, but the club prioritizes a transfer to resolve their departures.
Ansu Fati and Ter Stegen, two necessary loans

With Ansu and Ter Stegen, the situation is more complicated. The winger is not in Flick's plans for next season and his departure to Monaco is well underway. The French team will sign him on loan with a purchase option for 12 million euros in 2026. For the culés, the departure of the '10' is key to freeing up salary mass, as the player from Bisáu earns 12 'kilos' net per year.
Regarding the German goalkeeper, although his emoluments are lower (7 M€ net per season), the signing of Joan García and the renewal of Wojciech Szczesny relegate him to a secondary role in the squad.
In that sense, Barça is considering three alternatives to finalize his departure: a transfer for an amount less than 10 million euros, a one-season loan with a purchase option or the termination of his contract, with prior compensation with the payment of one year of net salary.
At the moment, Galatasaray is the team most interested in signing him, but the Turkish offer does not convince a Ter Stegen who is very annoyed with the azulgrana team for knowing that he is marginalized after a season in which he was only available for a couple of months due to a serious injury.
Pablo Torre and Pau Víctor can also leave on loan
The other two players who can leave on loan are Pablo Torre and Pau Víctor. Both the midfielder and the forward have several Spanish clubs interested, but the Cantabrian's contract ends in 2026 and he would only leave on loan if he renews beforehand.
For Barça, it is a priority to recover the 5 million they paid for him in 2022, an amount that few clubs are willing to pay at this time. Hence, the most sensible thing to do is to renew him before he leaves on loan to a team where he has enough opportunities to exploit his talent.
With Víctor, on the other hand, there is no eagerness about his contract, as the attacker signed until 2029. However, if Ter Stegen finally leaves on loan, the most likely thing is that the board prefers to sell the '18' for around 3 M€, reserving a percentage of his sports rights.
Pau has no place in the azulgrana attack, as Ferran Torres will be the team's '9' when Robert Lewandowski is not in the XI. With the imminent signing of another left winger, the door is definitively closed to the Catalan as a replacement, a role he occupied residually in 24/25.
In this way, FC Barcelona foresees a maximum of three loans in the summer, repeating the plan of the last summer market. In the long term, this bet is key to avoid future headaches with players without a place in the squad who represent a financial burden for the club. In 2023 and 2024, up to eight footballers had to return to the team after finishing their respective loans.
