The special transfer market for the 2025 Club World Cup will allow all clubs to carry out operations from June 1 to 10 to the extent that their financial situation allows. In the case of FC Barcelona, the board is advancing three key folders for the preparation of the 2025/26 squad.
While waiting for the 'ok' from LaLiga to return to the 1:1 rule —the sale of the VIP seats of the Spotify Camp Nou, key for this—, the azulgrana team is working on two exits and one incorporation that could be closed this week, although there is still plenty of room to negotiate.
Joan García, very close to being Barça's first reinforcement for 25/26
First of all, Barça hopes to close the signing of Joan García soon. The Espanyol goalkeeper seems convinced to accept the culé offer, although three other Premier League and Serie A clubs are also very interested in his future.
The 'pericos', however, are not very happy with the idea of seeing the '1' dressed in blaugrana, but the club understands that the decision rests directly with the player and, if Barça or another club agree to pay his clause, there will be nothing more to do.
In principle, the culés can sign García for 25 million euros, a very affordable price considering that the Sallent native has a contract until 2028 and, at 24 years old, is the most sought-after goalkeeper in LaLiga.
The '1' of Espanyol led Spanish football in saves (146 in 38 games) and kept his goal to zero in 8 opportunities despite receiving 51 goals (1.34 per game). Manolo González's team had the ninth worst defense in the tournament, but even so Joan was able to shine in the season.
Lenglet and Álex Valle, sales on track
On the other hand, regarding exits, Barça is confident of closing the permanent incorporations of Clément Lenglet and Álex Valle to Atlético de Madrid and Como, respectively, in the Club World Cup market.
The French central defender has the 'ok' from Diego Simeone to stay at 'Aleti' and play in the Club World Cup, but for this he must, preferably, terminate his contract with the azulgrana team. The Beauvais native earns 16 million euros gross per season, a salary impossible for the 'colchoneros' to assume.
Barça's idea was to receive about 10 'kilos' for his transfer, but everything points to the club having to give him a letter of freedom to get rid of his high salary once and for all. Lenglet played on loan at Tottenham, Aston Villa and Atlético in the last three seasons, but his salary always blocked the possibility of a sale.
The situation of Álex Valle is much more positive. The left-back played the second half of the season on loan at Como and everything points to the team led by Cesc Fàbregas accepting to pay the termination clause of the Catalan defender.
In that sense, Barça will receive 6 million euros net with what will be its first sale of the summer. In case of resolving the exits of Lenglet and Valle, the club will only have pending to finalize the farewell of Oriol Romeu, the other loanee who returns to the culé squad in June without counting in Hansi Flick's plans for 25/26.
However, the departure of the Ulldecona native may take a little longer, but it does not represent a major problem for the culés. The midfielder is aiming to return to Girona again, although it is not yet clear if the 'albirrojos' will pay compensation for his signing or if the 33-year-old footballer will leave with a letter of freedom.
