Hansi Flick and Barça have different positions on the future of Noah Darvich. The 18-year-old midfielder's contract ends in 2026 and he is expected to leave the Barça subsidiary this summer
Noah Darvich is one of the players slated to leave Barça Atlètic this summer. The German player has failed to settle in the Azulgrana subsidiary and, as his contract expires in 2026, the club will put him up for sale this summer.
However, Hansi Flick has the Freiburg player in his plans for the first team's preseason. Barça will travel to Japan and South Korea at the end of July and the coach prioritizes taking Darvich with the group before making a decision about his future.
In Germany, the latest reports point to the interest of Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen in the 18-year-old midfielder. In addition, Manchester City also has him on their radar, but Flick doesn't want to give him up for lost.
Not in vain, the Azulgrana coach took him into account for the call-up for two league matches (Celta and Valladolid), in addition to the return of the Champions League 'semi' against Inter Milan.
Hansi Flick's reasons for trusting Noah Darvich
In that sense, Flick values Darvich's talent and versatility, a player who can be very useful as an offensive replacement. Although he prefers to play as an attacking midfielder, with freedom in the front of attack, the Freiburg player also has the speed to overflow on the right and lend a hand in recovery as an inside player.
Although Barça has enough alternatives in terms of attacking midfielders (Raphinha, Dani Olmo, Fermín López, Gavi and Pedri himself), today they do not have a fixed right winger to cover Lamine Yamal's back.
In principle, Raphinha and Ferran Torres can do this work, but the idea is that the Brazilian will continue to be the owner of the left wing (if another winger does not arrive) and that the 'Shark' will be the second '9' of the team, behind Robert Lewandowski.
In the 24/25 season, players like Pablo Torre and Pau Víctor, although they had the coach's confidence, were condemned to ostracism due to the tough competition for a place in the Azuglrana attack. Noah Darvich can take this example to define his future, but everything will depend on the level he exhibits in the coming weeks.
The U-21 Euro, an ideal showcase for Noah Darvich
And, for Barça, the 18-year-old's participation in the U-21 European Championship will be decisive in defining his future. Germany debuts this Thursday against Slovenia and, afterwards, will face the Czech Republic and England on June 15 and 18, respectively.
Noah will be a starter in the team led by Antonio Di Salvo, who has a contract with the German U-21 team until the end of the tournament. In principle, the Azulgrana player will be an attacking midfielder, although he will also have the freedom to move on the right in the German attack.
In the 24/25 season, Darvich played 25 matches (8 as a starter) with Barça Atlètic in which he added 2 assists. Although the Freiburg player has not managed to exploit his talent in the subsidiary, Hansi Flick will wait for the Euro in Slovakia and the preseason to decide whether or not to count on him next season.
Barcelona paid 2.5 million euros to Freiburg for his transfer in 2023 and at least hopes to recover the investment. In his two years with the Culé subsidiary, the midfielder has 1 goal and 4 assists in 46 matches in the Primera RFEF.
