Deco's commitment to young players continues to increase. Now the one gaining prominence is center forward Mikkel Bro Hansen, who has a value of 500,000 euros
Since Deco's arrival at FC Barcelona as sporting director on August 16, 2023, the Portuguese has demonstrated the value he places on young players with the intention of consolidating the foundations so that the Catalan team has the best for the future.
In this sense, according to recent rumors, now the Portuguese would have set his sights on Mikkel Bro Hansen, a 16-year-old Norwegian center forward who plays for Bodo Glimt in the first division of his country.
The native of Lystrup attacker in the 2024/25 season participated in 4 matches (235 minutes), where he recorded 6 goals and 2 assists. Bro Hansen already knows the interest of Barça and was excited when asked about this issue on TV2 Norway.
"It's something incredible, but I know how to handle this pressure. It motivates me that there are people who trust me and believe in my abilities."
The player is highly valued in the Nordic team. His coach, Kjetil Knutsen, praises his ability on the field, while stating that he is young and must work on his potential.
“He is young, so we will spend time with him. We have to be patient. His greatest virtue and talent is definition. He understands football and works very hard. We have to work to develop his potential for the future."
Bro Hansen has a contract with Bodo Glimt until the summer of 2027. Also, according to Transfermarkt, the attacker has a value of 500,000 euros, a figure more than affordable for Barcelona.
Deco wants to incorporate more young talent
Another proof of the confidence of the culé sporting director is the imminent arrival of Roony Bardghji to Barcelona. In principle, it is expected that the 19-year-old player will do the preseason with the first team and it will be the coach Hansi Flick who decides what to do with the player.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Barça will pay around 2 million euros plus variables for Bardghji, while his (until now) team, Copenhagen, will keep a repurchase option.
On the other hand, there is the case of Cardoso Varela, a 16-year-old Portuguese left winger, who currently plays for Dinamo Zagreb, for whom Barça wanted to negotiate to incorporate him this summer, but finally decided that they will go for him in the summer market of 2026.
Apparently, this action of the azulgrana team in relation to Cardoso Varela would be a three-way strategy, that is, with which all the parties involved would agree: player and agent, Dinamo Zagreb and Barça.
Deco also sees the market as an opportunity to sell
Not all bets on young talents will turn out well, something that Deco knows very well and that is why he has also taken the opportunity to release other players who make money for the club.
The recent departure of Noah Darvich is a sample of these cases. The German arrived in the summer of 2023 and had minutes in Barça Atlètic, but never made his debut with the first team. He arrived at the blaugrana team for 2.5 M€ and left for Stuttgart for about 800,000 euros that could be increased by some variables stipulated for the next seasons.
Mika Faye is another case. The Senegalese arrived at Barça in June 2023 in exchange for 1.5 million euros, and sold him in the summer of 2024 to Stade Rennes for 12 M€ fixed and reserved 25% of a future sale, in addition to a repurchase option of 35 million.
Bets can go well or badly, but Deco, aware of how much it has cost Barça to have a generation similar to the one Pep Guardiola had with footballers such as Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, Gerard Piqué or Carles Puyol (all trained at La Masía), opts for young talent.
