Gyökeres already has a price and new giants are joining the fight. Barça, attentive to the outcome. Find out here
Viktor Gyökeres' future seems increasingly headed towards a departure from Sporting CP this summer. The Swedish striker, 26, signed a memorable 2024/25 season in offensive terms: 54 goals and 13 assists in 52 matches. A total of 67 direct goal involvements that only highlight an imminent reality: the '9' is ready to make the leap to a top-level team.
In that context, while rumors abound about what the Stockholm native's exit price will be in this market, a new revealing piece of information has emerged from England. According to the newspaper 'The Guardian', the 'Lions' have valued their star player at around 80 million euros, 20 'kilos' less than his release clause. An amount also higher than what was initially considered as a basis for negotiation —between 65 and 75 M€— to facilitate his departure.
Although Arsenal continues to position itself as the main favorite to secure his services, it has recently been commented that other big teams have joined the bidding for one of the names that will give the most to talk about in the summer market 2025/26.
Chelsea and Juventus join the race for Viktor Gyökeres
According to 'Sky Sports', Chelsea has also set its sights on Gyökeres as a priority option to strengthen their attack, in a list that also includes other candidates such as Liam Delap (Ipswich Town), Benjamin Šeško (RB Leipzig) and Hugo Ekitiké (Eintracht Frankfurt).
For its part, 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' assures that Juventus, given the option of putting Dušan Vlahović on the market, has the Swede among its main options to reinforce the attack. Although Victor Osimhen is also listed as a preferred alternative, the Italian media highlights that in the case of Gyökeres important steps have already been taken: the 'Vecchia Signora' would have started conversations with the Swedish international, "going beyond a simple request for information".
Barcelona remains attentive to Gyökeres, but prioritizes other reinforcements this summer
Now it remains to be seen what the concrete interests of Juventus and Chelsea will lead to for a Gyökeres who, although liked by FC Barcelona, does not give the impression of being a priority for the Blaugrana team this summer. In the Ciudad Condal they consider that the '9' position is covered with Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres. Therefore, the sports management has focused on reinforcing other areas of the field, especially the wings, and has left the possible incorporation of a center forward —unless a great market opportunity arises— for the summer of 2026/27.
