Jeremy Monga, a Leicester City player, has sparked interest from European giants. Barça and Madrid have him on their radar

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Jerermy Monga is one of the most promising players in European football. He turned 16 last July 16th and has already been taken into account by the Leicester City first team.

According to the latest information on the European market, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid could soon join the 'race' for the new 'pearl' of English football.

In the match against Preston this Saturday (Leicester's 2-1 defeat), Jeremy Monga became the youngest player to score in the Championship, the second tier of English football.

Born in Coventry, he made his Premier League debut on April 7 against Newcastle, at 15 years and 271 days old, becoming the second youngest player to debut in the history of the English tournament, only behind Ethan Nwaneri, who did it in 2022 at 15 years and 181 days.

FC Barcelona has Jeremy Monga on its radar

It is no secret that both Barça and Madrid want to take over players who stand out from a very young age, even before they reach the age of majority.

In that sense, English media assure that both Spanish teams already have reports on the player and, even, have sent scouts to observe Leicester City matches.

Vinicius Jr, Endrick, Arda Güler and Franco Mastantuono are examples of players who arrived at Real Madrid as soon as they turned 18 years old. On the other hand, Barça acquired Roony Bardghji this summer, 19 years old, who had already been followed in Denmark.

Leicester City will do everything possible to retain Jeremy Monga

The young English midfielder has been training at the 'Foxes' since he was a child, entering the under-9 category. Leicester City has offered him his first professional contract once the summer of 2026 arrives, when he turns 17 years old.

While waiting for the signing of the bond, both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona will make efforts to see who makes the best proposal to the English. The champion of the Premier League of 15/16 waits expectantly, because he knows that he has a 'pearl' in his ranks. Will the azulgrana team go for Monga?
