Kevin Lomónaco, a 23-year-old Argentine center-back, is emerging as an interesting option to strengthen FC Barcelona's defense
FC Barcelona is apparently observing the South American market with the intention of making an incorporation that reinforces its defensive line. At least that's what journalist Eduardo Inda suggested, who, in El Chiringuito, assured that the culé team would be following in the footsteps of one of the great young talents of Argentina: Kevin Lomónaco.
The defender, who currently plays for CA Independiente —a team with which he has a contract until December 2028—, would arrive as a possible response to the eventual departures of Andreas Christensen or Ronald Araujo. He would be a 'low cost' alternative with a lot of international projection, being only 23 years old.
The Argentine enjoys great sporting arguments
Lomónaco, who recently received his first call-up with the Argentine national team to play in the double FIFA date in June in which the 'Albiceleste' faced Chile (0-1) and Colombia (1-1), is widely valued for his imposing physique (he is 1.92 meters tall), his firmness in one-on-one situations and his good technical quality to play out from the back with the ball under control.
In turn, he has a past as a midfielder, which gives him a good ability to break lines with his incursions into the rival field. He is an asset whose characteristics could be to the liking of Barcelona.
How much does Kevin Lomónaco cost?
As for his exit price, the defender born in Lanús would be valued at 20 million dollars, that is, between 17 and 18 M€ approximately, corresponding to his termination clause. It is a relatively affordable amount that has aroused the interest of several clubs, as reported by journalist Ben Jacobs. West Ham and Crystal Palace in the Premier League, Sevilla in LaLiga and Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga would already be attentive to his situation.

The Argentine will not lack proposals, whose price and sporting conditions seduce more than one. The big question is: will Barcelona bet on signing him? At the moment, it does not seem clear, since the club's priority in this summer market is the incorporation of Nico Williams.
However, once that movement is completed, it is not ruled out that other reinforcements will arrive, determined both by the club's economic capacity and by the needs that remain in the squad.
