The UEFA sanction to the president of the FIGC by racism

Carlo Tavecchio, president of the Italian Federation of Football (FIGC), has been sanctioned by the Committee of Control, Ethical and Discipline of the UEFA during six months by a racist comment during the electoral campaign to be chosen maximum leader of the Italian football

Tavecchio, chosen president of the FIGC on 11 August, raised an enormous controversial when, during his electoral campaign, affirmed: "England studies if the footballers that arrive to the country fulfil with the necessary professionalism to be able to play. Tavecchio, of 71 years, won to the another candidate, the ex player Demetrio Albertini, when adding 63,63% of the consensora in the third vote.

The Committee, after receiving the allegations and study the case, decided, as it informs the UEFA in a communiqué, that Tavecchio will not be eligible for any charge of the continental organism by a period of six months from the communication of this determination and neither will be able to participate in the next Congress of the UEFA, fixed for 24 March 2015, and will have to organise a special meeting in Italy allocated to boost the fulfillment of the principles of the Resolution of the UEFA against the racism.

The communiqué aims that according to the article 63 of the Regulation of Discipline of the UEFA, this decision is immediately executive. Shortly after, Tavecchio ensured that it accepts the sanction.
