A Bundesliga team tried to sign Andreas Christensen in the final days of the winter transfer market. Barça rejected the offer as it was insufficient
Before suffering an injury to the soleus of his right leg, Andreas Christensen was on the verge of leaving FC Barcelona. The Blaugrana entity hoped to part ways with the Dane due to the 'overbooking' in central defense and their need to free up salary mass, but a new physical setback for the player, who has been practically absent this season, prevented his departure from the club.
However, the player had attracted the interest of several teams for his signing before entering the Blaugrana infirmary. In fact, the newspaper 'SPORT' reported that a Bundesliga team, whose name has not been disclosed, sent an offer for the defender in the final stretch of the winter window to incorporate the Nordic player definitively into their ranks.
The financial proposal from the Germans was said to be far below the 15 million euros that they expected to receive at Can Barça for the transfer of Christensen, so they did not even pass the offer on to the player, being aware, moreover, of his desire to continue wearing the Blaugrana and fulfill his contract until 2026.
Barça will reassess his transfer in the summer
Although his role in the team has been relegated to the background due to the high level shown by Eric García, the Dane is confident in regaining his best form once he overcomes his new physical setback and becoming a key piece in the culé defense throughout the second half of the season. However, if his situation does not change in the coming months, Barça will reconsider the player's future at the club.
The Catalans would view his sale favorably as a way to gain financial 'fair play' and receive a good sum for his transfer, but the player's word will carry weight and the risk of entering his last year of contract without renewal is a distant but real possibility. However, it seems unlikely that the Blaugrana will accept this scenario, so the 'soap opera' could be resolved in the coming months when the defender is fit to play again.
