SUMMER MARKET: Pedro Porro to Barça? Tottenham sets its departure price

FC Barcelona could have an advantage in the 'race' for Pedro Porro in the next summer market. The right-back has completed a very good season with Tottenham, adding 4 goals and 9 assists in 49 matches with Ange Postecoglou's team.

Although the 'Spurs' season in England has been disastrous (the team is in 17th place), they can save the year if they win the Europa League on May 21 at San Mamés against Manchester United.

One of the figures of the London team has been the Girona youth player, who has done very well since returning to the Premier League after a failed spell at Manchester City. The player from Don Benito relaunched his career at Sporting CP and is now one of the best full-backs in English football.

Therefore, clubs such as Real Madrid have been mentioned as possible destinations for Pedro, who, however, prioritizes playing with Barça if he can return to LaLiga. In Spain, the 25-year-old played for Girona and Valladolid before moving to Portugal.

💶Tottenham will not facilitate Pedro Porro's departure

In that sense, Tottenham does not plan to facilitate, much less, the departure of the Spanish international this year. Porro has a contract with the club until 2028 and the latest information indicates that the 'Spurs' will not accept offers below 60 million euros.

Understanding that the London team paid 40 'kilos' for his transfer in 2023 and the market value of the defender reaches 45M € in Transfermarkt, his departure price seems reasonable. However, for Barça, this amount may be too high.

And, beyond the importance of having a reliable and experienced alternative for Jules Koundé, paying 60 million for a player who would arrive to be a substitute is an expense that the Azulgrana board cannot afford this year.

The club's priority is to shield the defense, probably with the incorporation of a left-back and another center-back, as long as one of the defenders in the squad decides to leave. 

At the moment, the team has five center-backs available (Pau Cubarsí, Iñigo Martínez, Ronald Araujo, Eric García and Andreas Christensen). Logic points to the departure of at least one of them, with the Dane and the one from Martorell being the most likely to leave.

⚽Barça must reinforce its defense, but there is still nothing closed

On the flanks, Barça have no doubt about the undisputed role of Koundé and Balde, but their substitutes (Héctor Fort and Gerard Martín) do not generate enough confidence in the long term.

Names like Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen) and Andrei Ratiu (Rayo) have been mentioned as alternatives, but so far there is no progress with any full-back.

For the center of the defense, the most advanced option was Jonathan Tah, although the German has nothing agreed with the Culés and both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are pushing to sign him in the coming days, as a reinforcement for the Club World Cup.

Thus, Pedro Porro may be an interesting option for the future, but unfeasible in the short term for the Azulgrana economy. Even so, the club will continue to pay attention to his progress at Tottenham, where he already has 11 goals and 20 assists in his first two seasons (103 appearances).
